From the first chapter of Canada’s 2017 budget, planning for innovation is front and center. The government intends to allocate funding to skills development in areas deemed to be key for a prosperous digital economy – the epicenter of today’s innovations. Most recently, this includes a $50 Million pledge to coding programs for children, digital literacy programming, and incentivizing careers in sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics [stem] for youth.
